Capesubs awarded new tender

CAPESUBS BECOMES THE PREFERRED SUPPLIER TO PARLIAMENT
JANUARY 2012

Our goal has finally been achieved, when this month, we were awarded the tender to supply all newspapers, magazines and other reading material to the National Assembly and Parliament.  We are now the preferred supplier, and anyone who orders papers from another supplier will be in contravention, while our contract is in place.

The National Assembly resides in the Parliamentary offices in Plein Street, Cape Town, and comprises 400 members who in turn represent 16 political parties.  The Speaker, Max Sisulu, son of Walter and Albertina Sisulu,  is the principal office bearer of the Assembly, and his duties include presiding over sittings of the House, acting as a representative for the Assembly and for Parliament, and acting as chief executive officer for Parliament.  He is equivalent in rank to a Cabinet Minister.  Although he is a member of the ANC, he is expected to to act impartially and protect the rights of all parties.

The National Assembly in Cape Town deals with legislative matters, and these are appropriately performed by smaller groups (committees), although the final decision is always taken by the House.  There is a portfolio committee for each corresponding government department.  An important part of the National Assembly is holding the executie to account by questions to the President and Cabinet Ministers.  Members may submit questions to which the Ministers have to respond.  Members of other parties then get to ask further questions and probe the matter further. The National Assembly also appoints office bearers such as the Auditor-General and the Public Protector.

Capesubs is proud to have the NA and Parliament as their new client, and thus really becoming the preferred supplier in Cape Town to Parliament, local and provincial government, many large corporate clients, Consulates, Investment companies, banks, and many smaller clients in the CBD of Cape Town – due to our excellent track record and superior service.
